Located in the SE quadrant of Calgary on the East side of McLeod trail and south of 22X and Fish Creek Park. Developed by Genstar, Lake Chaparral is one of Clagary’s most popular family oriented lake communitues with a 32 acre man made lake. The lake was a venue for the 1997 World Police and Fire Games in 1997 for it’s 72-inch diameter concrete pipe underwater obstacle course, a haven for recreational divers! Lake Chaparral has a 21-acre park with two waterfalls, a recreation centre with a full-time director, and facilities for fishing, boating, skating and diving. These amenities are available to homeowners for a fee paid to a Resident's Association who operate the facility.
There is a nice variety of housing options. A variety of affordable options of detached single family homes and condominium developments are available in adjacent community of Chaparral Ridge- however this district does not have lake rights. The majority of the housing is detached family homes ranging in size from 1,800-2,500 SF. There are also a number of luxury detached homes that offer lake front lots with private lake docks or lots backing directly onto open green spaces and paved pathway systems.
The Lake Chaparral community association offers a variety of programs to residents. Scouting programs, community based youth baseball, soccer and hockey programs, dance classes, martial arts, exercise classes, church groups, tennis, horseshoes, beach volleyball and scuba diving classes are just a few of the programs that are offered through the community association.. The community’s outdoor skating rink is popular during winter months, as are special events such as Holiday socials, community parties and various courses offered to all interest groups.
