The Lake community of Arbour Lake is located on the northwest edge of the built-up area of Calgary. It is bounded by Crowchild Trail to the south and Nose Hill Drive to the east, and the Stoney Trail Expressway to the West . Arbour Lake is the only lake community in the Northwest quadrant of Calgary, with mountain views, weekend access to the Rockies and still only a short drive from downtown. The heart of the community is a 10-acre lake that derives its water supply directly from the City of Calgary's water supply. The lake is crystal clear so that you can see the 20-foot lake bottom and is stocked three times a year with Rainbow Trout. The Lake offers fishing, boating and swimming in the summer, and ice fishing, skating and hockey in the winter. These activities are available exclusively to the resident's of Arbour Lake and their guests.
The Arbour Lake Residents' Association is a limited company under the Laws of Alberta since July 19, 1991. The purpose of the company is to "care for and improve upon the Arbour Lake Amenities, with the main focus being the lake itself".
All residential purchasers in the Arbour Lake District have a "Rent Charge Encumbrance" placed on the title to their property. This encumbrance requires the owner to pay an annual fee to the ALRA. Fees are based on the proximity to and lake access of the property. Fees are mandatory and due January 31st of each calendar year. Any fees not paid as required become a charge against the property in a manner similar to unpaid property taxes.
The ALRA has a paid staff to run the lake office, maintain the lake and facilities used by lake patrons and also has a Board of Directors made up of Arbour Lake Residents. The Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of May at which time Board And www.arbourlake.com
